Associate Dean, Austin Campus

ANNA JESSUP, DNP, APRN, FNP-C

Associate Dean for the Austin Campus, Anna Jessup joined Galen March 2022. Dr. Prior to working at Galen, she was the Program Director of both the Master of Science Family Nurse Practitioner Program, Bachelor of Science Nursing, and BSN-RN Program at South University at Austin.

Both her academic career and nursing career reflects a legacy of working with the underrepresented patient population. For over fifteen years and twenty years living in the Austin area, Anna has served the local community through work at Samaritan Health Ministries in Leander. Team leadership that engaged in research of Social Determinate’s of Health and depression screening in the Latin refugee population. In addition, worked in collaboration with the Texas Association of Charitable Clinics and St. David’s Foundation advocating for continued grant funding to study the effects of Social Determinate’s of Health in the Central Texas area.

The future of nursing is changing and evolving; strong leadership is critical not only for the health and wellness of our nation but also for the next generation of nurses. Leadership starts regionally, and with that perspective Anna has served in various capacities with Texas Nurse Practitioners (TNP). Currently the Treasurer for TNP and the American Association of Nurse Practitioner’s Texas South State Representative.

Anna earned her DNP from Texas Tech University Health Science Center 2018 with a focus on Improving Health Outcomes and Health Equity. The strategic plan included development of leadership skills, informatics, health policy, and a focus on the eight DNP Essentials. The future of nursing is her true passion. The position is an exciting opportunity as it aligns both with her own personal and professional goals and with the Galen College of Nursing mission and institutional goals.
