Dr. Cooper brings extensive experience to Galen from multiple specialties in nursing practice. She came to Galen in 2013 as the Program Director for the Associate Degree in Nursing. In this role, she was responsible for ensuring students and graduates achieved learning outcomes; faculty development; and the development and review of curriculum to achieve program outcomes. Prior to Galen, Dr. Cooper served as full-time faculty at Bellarmine University, teaching in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and the Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs. She has additional years of experience in teaching and leadership at DePaul University and the University of Southern Indiana, as well as hospital clinical practice and pharmaceutical safety.
Dr. Cooper earned a Doctorate in Education with an emphasis on Instructional Technology from Northern Illinois University and a Master of Science in Nursing from Southern Illinois University. In addition, Dr. Cooper has been selected to serve as an ACEN Peer Evaluator. While acting in this role, she will be able to share knowledge and best practices, and current trends and curricula in nursing education through participation on Site Visit Teams, Evaluation Review Panels, and through recommendations forwarded to the ACEN Board of Commissioners. The prescriptive criteria and rigorous selection process for ACEN Peer Evaluators is evidence of Dr. Cooper’s expertise and commitment to quality in nursing education.
