Donna M. Hedges, Ph.D., MSN, MBA, RN, CNE

Donna M. Hedges, Ph.D., MSN, MBA, RN, CNE has been appointed to Assistant Dean for San Antonio. She will begin her new role effectively on October 10th.  

Dr. Donna Hedges began her nursing career in St. Petersburg, Florida, with an associate degree in nursing.  She earned a BSN in 1994, an MBA in 1998, an MSN in 2010, and a PhD in Nursing Education in 2015. She has been a Registered Nurse for 40 years and has served in progressive leadership roles in hospital administration and academic settings. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Hedges came to San Antonio in 1997 by way of Florida and New Mexico. Her nursing experience includes medical-surgical, critical care, public health, and oncology nursing. Dr. Hedges began teaching in 2009 and has taught in ADN, BSN, and MSN programs, and enjoys precepting MSN and DNP students.

Dr. Hedges joined the Galen San Antonio campus in May 2021 as the Program Director for the pre-licensure BSN program. Dr. Hedges serves on the manuscript review board for three peer-reviewed nursing journals and contributed three chapters to a book for new nurse faculty. Dr. Hedges has presented at national and international conferences on the topics of incivility, organizational behavior and culture, resilience, change management, and burnout. She is a past board member of the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN) and is the chair of the OADN Social Mission Task Force. She also serves on the communication committee for the International Association for Human Caring.
