Ed Jones, the President and CEO of HealthTrust, is responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of a comprehensive spend management business that is majority-owned and managed by HCA. Jones oversees all dimensions of a $35B portfolio; as well as, directs all consulting, managed services and outsource relationships, including accountability for HCA supply-chain performance. Ed also provides oversight for the workforce solutions business as part of a comprehensive “total spend management offering” of labor and supplies for Providers.

Ed’s leadership encompasses several HealthTrust business ventures that strengthen Provider purchasing power and competitive advantage, including:

• HT-Europe which provides GPO services to 39 Provider trusts in the U.K.
• Global Sourcing of medical supplies in Shanghai, China
• CoreTrust – the leading commercial market GPO for indirect spend
• Invivolink – an innovative medical device patient registry that supports evidence-based care

He has more than 35 years of experience in health care operations, serving previously as Chief Operating Officer for HealthTrust, with responsibility for strategic sourcing, clinical operations, custom contracting, supplier diversity, and regional operations.

Jones is a founding board member of the Health Sector Supply Chain Research Consortium. He is also a member of the Federation of American Hospitals and serves as board chair on the Healthcare Supply Chain Association (HSCA) board. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.
