December 11, 2013 – Louisville, KY – Galen College of Nursing has appointed Dr. Steve Hyndman to the position of Senior Vice President and Provost. “The continued evolution of the College requires the expansion of our academic leadership. Dr. Hyndman is a proven leader and ideal for this role as we move forward,” said Mark Vogt, President of Galen.
Dr. Hyndman has extensive background and experience in higher education combined with a doctorate in Higher Education Administration. Prior to his appointment to Provost, he served as Galen’s Vice President of Online Learning. Before joining Galen, Dr. Hyndman served as Dean, Graduate Education and Director of the Center for Educational Technology at Georgetown College, and Technology Coordinator, Assistant Professor of Education, and Director of Educational Technology at Eastern Kentucky University. He has also developed and taught online courses for the University of Phoenix. “I’m honored to serve in this new role for our college. We have outstanding faculty, staff, and students at Galen. I look forward to working with everyone to ensure we continue focusing on providing world-class education as well as a fulfilling work environment for the many respected professionals employed by our college,” said Dr. Hyndman.
Dr. Hyndman served four years as an elected school board member for the Fayette County Public School District—the second largest school district in Kentucky with over 32,000 students and 5,000 employees. He serves as the Public Commissioner for the National League for Nursing, Certified Nurse Educator Commission (2013-2015) and as a member of the Academic Excellence Committee of the Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities (2013-2014).
