Announcing the New Sammie Mosier Legacy Scholarship

Galen College of Nursing is committed to preparing students to become highly confident, competent, and compassionate healthcare professionals.

Today, in partnership with the HCA Healthcare and the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee (CFMT), we are thrilled to announce a new financial aid opportunity designed to invest directly in your future: The Sammie Mosier Legacy Scholarship.

Established this year, this renewable scholarship provides $5,000 annually to support pre-licensure Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing students who demonstrate financial need. Best of all, because Galen is a proud member of the HCA Healthcare family, priority preference is given to students attending HCA-affiliated nursing colleges like ours.

Continuing a Legacy of Excellence and Advocacy

This scholarship was created to honor the remarkable life and legacy of Dr. Sammie S. Mosier, the former Senior Vice President and Chief Nurse Executive for HCA Healthcare. Dr. Mosier’s story is a profound inspiration for any nursing student. She began her career in 1996 as a bedside medical-surgical nurse at Frankfort Regional Medical Center in Kentucky.

Through her dedication to clinical excellence and nurse advocacy, she advanced through leadership roles to eventually lead an enterprise of more than 100,000 registered nurses.

Notably, Dr. Mosier served on Galen’s Board of Directors and played a pivotal role in leading the integration and expansion of Galen College of Nursing after it was acquired by HCA Healthcare in 2020. She dedicated her career to mentoring future leaders and expanding clinical education platforms.

By applying for this scholarship, you are connecting your education to a legacy of leadership that shaped modern nursing.
