Building Connections: Myrtle Beach Students Explore Careers at Fall Festival

Galen Myrtle Beach Fall Festival

Students at Galen College of Nursing’s Myrtle Beach campus recently took a break from classes to enjoy their annual Fall Festival, an event that brought together classmates, faculty and HCA Healthcare teams from across the region. The festival gave students an opportunity to learn about different career paths and make connections with healthcare leaders.

Building Connections Beyond the Classroom

“The students are engaged and enjoy positive attention from the Grand Strand staff and leadership,” said Dr. Kandi Valentine, the dean for Galen’s Myrtle Beach campus. “This year’s Fall Fest brought in HCA Healthcare teams from Summerville, Trident, and Augusta to share information on job opportunities across the division. Healthcare partners actively investing in our students is awesome.”

Designed to strengthen the connection between education and practice, the festival helped students gain a better understanding of the many opportunities available within HCA Healthcare, particularly for those considering relocating after graduation.

For student Milena Gannon, the event offered the perfect mix of fun and professional networking.

“The Fall Festival provided music, food and great opportunities to make connections,” Gannon said. “We were able to enjoy time with classmates while also meeting representatives from different HCA Healthcare hospitals, allowing us the chance to learn about potential future opportunities.”

Events like the Fall Festival create meaningful opportunities for students to build relationships with healthcare professionals, learn about potential career paths and see firsthand how healthcare partners are investing in their success as future nurses.
