A New Galen College of Nursing Campus is COMING SOON to Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. (April 1, 2026) – Galen College of Nursing and HCA Healthcare are proud to expand access to high-quality nursing education with the upcoming addition of a new Galen campus in Charleston, South Carolina.

Pending approval from the South Carolina Board of Nursing (SCLLR) in late May, Galen College of Nursing plans to open a new campus in the Daniel Island area offering a two-year Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

As one of the nation’s largest nursing educators for more than 35 years, Galen College of Nursing is dedicated to offering exceptional student support and programs emphasizing clinical-based, hands-on learning that prepares graduates for practice and a rewarding career in nursing.

“Our mission is to expand access to innovative nursing education that prepares competent, confident and compassionate nurses who advance health care and strengthen communities,” said Mark Vogt, CEO of Galen College of Nursing. “We are excited to be bringing our student-first dedication to Charleston with our second South Carolina campus.”

Galen opened its first Palmetto State campus in Myrtle Beach in late 2021, but the need for new nurses continues to grow each year. According to the Federal Health Resources and Services Administration, South Carolina will face a shortage of nearly 12,000 full-time nursing positions by 2037.

As part of the HCA Healthcare family, Galen is proud to serve the Charleston community. Together, we are working to address the workforce shortage, expanding opportunities for current and future nurses who are fundamental to the delivery of high-quality care.

“The success we’ve seen with Galen College of Nursing in Myrtle Beach and in Savannah has been incredibly encouraging,” said Dr. Nina Evans, DNP, MBA, RN, FACHE, Chief Nursing Officer for HCA Healthcare’s South Atlantic Division. “Those campuses have expanded access to nursing education and created meaningful opportunities for students to learn, graduate and step directly into practice within our communities. As this campus comes online, it will help us create meaningful career pathways while addressing the growing need for highly skilled nurses in South Carolina,” adds Evans.

Galen College of Nursing campuses are dedicated solely to quality nursing education and offer four term starts throughout the year, making it more convenient than ever to begin your nursing education journey.

We will be releasing additional information, pending approval from the South Carolina Board of Nursing. To learn about Galen College of Nursing or to inquire about the admissions process call 877-233-7040, or visit galencollege.edu.
