Celebrating Certified Nurses Day

Today we recognize Certified Nurses Day, a special opportunity to celebrate nurses who have gone above and beyond to earn and maintain professional certification in their specialty areas.

This day honors nursing professionalism, excellence, and service — and highlights the important role certified nurses play in educating the future of healthcare.

At Galen College of Nursing, we are proud to celebrate our faculty and staff who hold professional nursing certifications. Their commitment to advanced knowledge and lifelong learning strengthens our academic community and models the highest standards of professional practice for our students.

“When our faculty members pursue and achieve specialty nursing certification, they are doing more than just adding credentials to their names; they are demonstrating a meaningful commitment to the highest standards of nursing education,” said Tracy Ortelli, PhD, RN, CNE, ANEF, FAAN president and chief academic officer at Galen College of Nursing. “This initiative to ‘go the extra inch’ directly impacts our students, as they are being mentored by educators who are recognized experts in their fields. We are incredibly proud of our certified faculty for leading by example and elevating the quality of instruction across our entire college.”

Professional certification is a voluntary achievement beyond licensure that demonstrates a nurse’s expertise, skill, and dedication to staying current in an ever-evolving healthcare environment. Certified nurses contribute to improved outcomes, evidence-based practice, and mentorship across healthcare and academic settings.

We invite our Galen community to take a moment to recognize and celebrate our certified colleagues. Their achievements reflect both personal dedication and Galen’s mission to prepare knowledgeable, confident, and compassionate nurses.
