Galen College of Nursing
POOLER, GA, August 20, 2024 –
Part of the HCA Healthcare family Galen College of Nursing and Memorial Health celebrated the groundbreaking of its new campus today. The ceremony included the symbolic turning of the soil, representing the official beginning of construction of the new Memorial Health Pooler Campus where Galen will be co-located with Memorial Health.
The groundbreaking was held at the site of the new building at 500 Mosaic Circle in Pooler, with leaders from Galen, Memorial Health, and HCA Healthcare participating in the ceremony.
The new Memorial Health Pooler Campus will have three (3) stories and be more than 67,000 square feet in size. It is expected to be completed in fall of 2025.
“Pooler is a thriving community and Memorial Health has plans to be a part of that growth,” said Brad Talbert, chief executive officer of Memorial Health. “The new Memorial Health Pooler Campus will be home to all of our current services we have here in the community and a new breast imaging center. I am excited about our company’s investment in Pooler and the opportunity to serve patients here.”
Galen’s new campus will be a state-of-the-art facility designed to cultivate learning with advanced classroom and simulation technology mixed with collaborative and creative spaces. Created with students in mind, the campus will reflect Galen’s commitment to excellence and high-quality education in a supportive and engaging learning environment.
“Galen is honored to join the Pooler community, and we are thrilled by the warm welcome we’ve received,” said Mark Vogt, Chief Executive Officer of Galen College of Nursing. “This groundbreaking illustrates our dedication to addressing the critical nursing shortage by providing education and training to the next generation of nurses. We are excited to contribute to the health and vitality of this growing region.”
Galen plans to offer a 2-Year Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and later introduce a 3-Year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and LPN/LVN to ADN Bridge programs. These programs are designed to develop critical clinical judgment and reasoning skills, preparing students for effective and compassionate patient care.
“With the opening of the new campus, we will be providing more opportunities for individuals to pursue nursing careers while addressing the increasing healthcare needs of the community,” said Audria Denker, DNP, RN, FAADN, ANEF, Executive Vice President of Nursing at Galen College of Nursing. “This new campus will provide a supportive space for students, preparing them for a rewarding career in nursing. We are committed to helping them grow, learn, and succeed in a field that needs them now more than ever.”
Galen also offers online RN to BSN, MSN, and DNP programs for nurses across the country seeking further education and career advancement. For more information or to schedule an admissions consultation, call 877-233-7040 or visit galencollege.edu.
