TOP TEAS TIPS

Here are some reminders we like to share with future Galen students taking the TEAS.

PRACTICe questions aren’t the actual questions

There are several excellent practice guides and tools to help you get familiar with the type of questions and the rhythm of the TEAS. But be aware that the questions you find are often taken from past TEAS, but they will not be the actual TEAS questions.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE MULTIPLE-CHOICE FORMAT.

Remember, there is a correct answer in front of you! Use the process of elimination to rule out incorrect answers and narrow down to the right one. Go with your gut and try not to overthink. You probably know more about the subject than you think, and your first answer is likely to be correct.

ANSWER EVERY QUESTION.

Points are awarded for correct answers only. There is no point deduction for choosing the wrong answer, so make sure you answer every question.

DON’T LET YOURSELF GET STUCK ON ONE QUESTION TOO LONG.

Remember, this is a timed test. But don’t panic if time begins to run down. Just stay calm, answer all the questions by making your best educated guess. If you do have any extra time, go back and review your work.

STARTING OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT BEGINS THE NIGHT BEFORE.

Cramming doesn’t help and often causes more stress. So be sure to get enough sleep and eat a good breakfast the morning of the exam. This will help get your brain ready, plus help you relax and stay calm.

REMEMBER – YOU CAN TAKE THE TEAS UP TO 3 TIMES

We know…it would be awesome to pass it the first time. But worst case scenario, you can always take it again!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The TEAS can now be taken at a Galen campus or from the comfort of your home. Please reach out to your admissions representative to find out if the TEAS can be taken in-person at your campus location.

If you are taking the TEAS on campus, please arrive at least 30 minutes before your start time. The TEAS will start on time, and late entry is not permitted.

If you are taking the TEAS remotely, you will need to create an account before beginning the TEAS, so please allow extra time to complete this task.

If you are taking the TEAS in person, don’t forget to bring:

  • A current photo ID (driver’s license, state ID or military ID card)
  • Scrap paper and a pen or pencil for calculations (online only)
  • If you are taking the online version, a four-function drop-down calculator is built into the exam (multiplication, addition, subtraction, and division)
  • If you are taking the paper-pencil version of the TEAS, a four-function calculator will be provided to you by the proctor.

Admission composite score requirements vary by program and by campus. Please contact a Galen admissions representative for ATI TEAS requirements for each program at your campus.
