CES Jessica Moreno Turns Campus Connection into Student Confidence

For Jessica Moreno, meaningful campus engagement is about more than hosting events — it’s about creating moments that help students recognize their own growth. As a Campus Engagement Specialist (CES) at Galen’s Las Vegas campus, Jessica is intentional about building spaces where students feel encouraged, connected, and confident in who they are becoming.

One of those moments began with a simple vision board activity. In early 2025, Jessica hosted a vision board–making event for students on campus. The response was overwhelmingly positive, so she brought the activity back again at the start of 2026. She wanted to give students a chance to reflect on where they had been and where they were headed.

Shortly after the event, Jessica received a message from student Raneal Hudgins that perfectly captured the impact of that reflection. Raneal shared a photo of her two vision boards side by side — one from 2025 and one from 2026. Together, they told a powerful story of growth.

“If you take a close look, you can see she has truly stepped into her power,” Jessica shared. “There are lots of ‘I am’ and ‘I’ statements on her 2026 board.”

For Raneal, the comparison was deeply personal.

“When I look at my 2026 vision board, it shows a more confident version of who I am now compared to the person I was,” she said. “I felt inadequate at times and was afraid of the path that was set in front of me.”

Moments like this show the impact of campus engagement on students. While workshops and events may last only a day, the confidence they spark can carry students through the challenges of nursing school and beyond. Campus Engagement Specialists like Jessica play a critical role in fostering belonging, motivation, and belief — often long after an event has ended.

Raneal is part of the upcoming ADN graduating class and is set to finish in March 2026, an exciting milestone as she prepares to take the next step in her nursing career.

“My experience at Galen has been everything I imagined nursing school would be,” she said. “It has been an amazing journey.”

As students across campus prepare for milestones like clinicals, graduation, and their first nursing roles, stories like this serve as a powerful reminder: confidence doesn’t appear overnight. Sometimes, it grows because someone like Jessica created the space for students to see how far they’ve already come.
