Celebrating Our Faculty During Women’s History Month 

Women’s History Month is a time to honor the women whose leadership, compassion, and dedication shape the world around us. At Galen College of Nursing, that impact is felt every day in classrooms, clinicals, and hallways across the country — thanks to the incredible women who inspire our nursing students. 

This month, we’re proud to celebrate Women Who Inspire by spotlighting a few of our exceptional faculty members. Through their guidance, encouragement, and unwavering belief in their students, these women help shape future nurses and future leaders in healthcare.  

Houston Campus 

Oyindamola Adeoshun, ADN, BSN, and VN Faculty 

At the Houston campus, Oyindamola Adeoshun is known for going above and beyond for her students. Her dedication extends past the classroom, as she actively encourages students to get involved, build leadership skills, and fully engage in the Galen community. Her willingness to go the extra inch leaves a lasting impression on everyone she teaches.

Nashville Campus 

Dr. Carla McKenzie, Dean 

Dr. Carla McKenzie’s presence at the Nashville campus is defined by warmth, faith, and an unshakable commitment to her students’ success. Known for her infectious energy and genuine care, she reminds students to stay connected to their “why” and never lose sight of their purpose — even during the most challenging moments of nursing school. 

“Dean McKenzie has never given up on me, even when I doubted myself. Her strength, faith, and unwavering belief in her students inspire me to keep pushing forward and grow into the nurse I am called to be.”

“Throughout my time at Galen, Dean McKenzie has always had a smile on her face and always gave the warmest hugs. I remember when she hugged me so tightly when my family experienced a loss during Thanksgiving of 2024, and I don’t anticipate that you’d find that at a 4-year university.”

San Antonio Campus 

Kaylen Bagley, BSN Prelicensure Program Instructor 

Kaylen Bagley is admired in San Antonio for her commitment to student understanding and academic excellence. She ensures complex material is approachable and applicable, modeling accountability and collaboration in everything she does. Her students trust her guidance because she leads with a passion for learning.

Eloisa Jones, Faculty Member 

Few educators leave a legacy that spans generations of nurses – and even future faculty – but Eloisa Jones does just that. Known for her calm, reassuring teaching style and deep well of clinical and professional experience, she brings coursework to life through real-world stories and genuine care. Her passion for nursing and advocacy inspires students to think critically, grow confidently, and envision their role in shaping the future of healthcare.

Beverly Pack, Faculty Member 

Known affectionately by her students as “The Bear,” Beverly Pack is a faculty member who pushes students to be their very best. Her teaching style is memorable and grounded in real-world application, helping students connect foundational concepts to the realities of nursing practice. While she challenges students to rise to the occasion, it’s always driven by an unwavering commitment to their success.  

“Mrs. Pack really wants everyone to be a successful nurse. She challenges us, gives us perspective, and teaches lessons we’ll remember for the rest of our careers.”

Sarasota Campus 

Joan Frey, Dean 

At the Sarasota campus, Dr. Joan Frey is known for her steady encouragement and hands-on support from the very beginning of a student’s journey. Through simple but powerful check-ins, practical academic guidance, and consistent follow-up, she helps students build confidence and trust in themselves as they navigate the challenges of nursing school.

Jeanne Longbottom, Faculty Member 

Known for her compassion, deep clinical knowledge, and unwavering support, Jeanne Longbottom has a lasting impact on students at Galen’s Cincinnati campus. She helps transform uncertainty into confidence by ensuring students truly understand the material and feel supported both in the classroom and during clinical experiences.
