Celebrating Our Faculty During Women’s History Month
Women’s History Month is a time to honor the women whose leadership, compassion, and dedication shape the world around us. At Galen College of Nursing, that impact is felt every day in classrooms, clinicals, and hallways across the country — thanks to the incredible women who inspire our nursing students.
This month, we’re proud to celebrate Women Who Inspire by spotlighting a few of our exceptional faculty members. Through their guidance, encouragement, and unwavering belief in their students, these women help shape future nurses and future leaders in healthcare.

Her dedication extends past the classroom, as she actively encourages students to get involved, build leadership skills, and fully engage in the Galen community. “Dean McKenzie has never given up on me, even when I doubted myself. Her strength, faith, and unwavering belief in her students inspire me to keep pushing forward and grow into the nurse I am called to be.” — Rakia Sanders, BSN Student
“Throughout my time at Galen, Dean McKenzie has always had a smile on her face and always gave the warmest hugs. I remember when she hugged me so tightly when my family experienced a loss during Thanksgiving of 2024, and I don’t anticipate that you’d find that at a 4-year university.”
— Leah-Grace Russell, BSN Student

— Mayce McKinney, BSN Student
“I have worked at Methodist Main since November 2019, and I have heard so many nurses who went to school at Galen talk so fondly of Mrs. Jones. I think she is brilliant, kind, and so supportive of her students. If I were ever in the hospital, I would want her taking care of me or any of my family members.”
