This is where students learn the concepts and theory behind the practice of nursing and providing patient care. It allows the student to understand and articulate what they do for patients and why. We provide research and evidence that becomes the basis for practical action.
Galen’s science laboratories help students hone their skills with state-of-the-art equipment and hands-on learning opportunities, supervised by a faculty member who provides one-on-one attention.
Developing clinical judgment and reasoning are paramount in a nursing degree program. Each Galen campus boasts modern clinical-learning laboratories equipped with patient-simulation mannequins. Working individually and in groups under the supervision of an experienced professional nurse educator, students practice the skills that are fundamental to patient care in an encouraging, engaging, learning environment.
Galen clinicals offer extensive and diverse experiences with leading healthcare providers in the community. Under the supervision of experienced Galen clinical faculty, students work with real patients and their families, alongside facility nurses and doctors in hospitals, long-term-care facilities, rehabilitation centers, clinics, pediatric centers, physician offices, and more. And they can experience and explore a variety of specialties and settings, including medical-surgical, pediatrics, mental health, maternity, and much more.
At Galen, nursing education goes far beyond the classroom. Galen College of Nursing maintains relationships with major healthcare institutions in the communities of each campus, so students will have access to diverse experiences during their nursing education.
There’s no better way to learn the ins and outs of the job — and it’s a big reason Galen graduates are so well-prepared for practice.
