Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long is the TEAS Exam?

A: You should plan for approximately 3 1/2 hours to be allotted for the entire TEAS assessment.

Q: Do I have to take the TEAS test to attend Galen?

A: You may be accepted into Galen based upon entrance test scores on qualifying examinations, including the ACT, SAT, HESI A2, and TEAS, or evidence of a previously earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Please contact your enrollment counselor for more information on equivalent examinations and test scores. Admission test scores must have been earned within the last five years.

Q: What’s the difference between the TEAS and HESI exams?

A: The TEAS covers a wide range of general topics, while the HESI A2 focuses more on specific content related to the nursing program you’re applying for. Because of this, some people find the HESI more challenging.

Q: How long does it take to get my TEAS scores back?

A: If the exam is completed Monday through Thursday, you will receive an email with your scores within 24 hours. If the exam is completed Friday or Saturday, the results will be emailed the following Monday.
