Admission Requirements

Your Future Awaits.

Getting started is easier than you may think.

Whether you want to start or advance your nursing career, you are in the right place. Find guidance for the enrollment process, such as easy steps to apply, program admission requirements, and information regarding credit transfers.

We partner with you to make your path to Galen as quick and easy as possible—from application to new student orientation.

All Students

To be considered for admission to Galen College of Nursing, you must be:

  • A high school graduate or hold a General Education Development (GED) diploma or another recognized high school equivalency.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English.
  • Able to successfully pass a qualifying entrance examination or provide evidence that you earned a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution. Score requirements vary by program, by location.

Participating in the clinical experiences increases your risk of exposure to and possible transmission of vaccine-preventable diseases.

To protect students, healthcare providers, and patients, Galen requires every student to provide evidence of adequate immunity.

For specifics, download the Student Checklist for Clinical Participation.

You may have already completed some general education courses elsewhere. Find out if they transfer to Galen. (We won’t transfer in developmental, prelicensure, or nursing courses taken prior to achieving an RN license.)

  • Request that each school, college, or university you attended sends an official copy of your transcript directly to Galen.
  • Provide your transcripts to Galen and have an active application on file.
  • Before you sign your Galen enrollment agreement, you must have your transfer credits approved.

We use TES®, the Transfer Evaluation System from CollegeSource, to evaluate transfer credit. If you have college credits, check for them on TES®. The equivalencies shown are for informational purposes only and are subject to change due to curriculum changes.

Qualifying Exams

To be admitted to a pre-licensure program, you must provide a minimum test score on one of our accepted qualifying exams. This score shows that you are ready to study nursing. We accept:

  • ACT
  • SAT
  • HESI A2
  • TEAS

To find minimum score requirements, select a campus and find your program there. You must have earned your test score within the last five years.

Alternatively, you can provide evidence that you earned a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.

Multiple Term Starts

At Galen, we enroll four times every year. That means you can start when you’re ready. You’re accepted as soon as you meet our admission requirements—with no prerequisites required to begin the program. All required general education courses are included in the pre-licensure nursing degree curriculums.
