Dr. Lori Brodie, DNP, PhD-Psy, APRN, PMHNP-BC, CNE, Galen’s AVP of Nursing Education Excellence, recently published an article on Galen’s unique Compassionate Care model in the academic journal Research and Theory for Nursing Practice. A peer‑reviewed journal founded in 1987, the publication is dedicated to advancing the integration of nursing research, theory, and practice.

In the article, Dr. Brodie discusses the creation of the iCARE Compassionately model to develop compassionate, competent, and confident nurses at Galen. She explains how the model is incorporated to Galen’s academic curriculum as well as the implications for graduates entering the nursing field.

As students learn about compassionate care and see the behavior modeled by everyone around them, they learn what it means to be a nurse, to bring compassion to the job, and to provide excellent, compassionate care to patients.
