Funding Your Nursing Education Goals

Financial aid helps you pay for college. If you’re not planning to use federal financial aid, contact your Enrollment Counselor for your next steps.

If you plan to request federal student aid, review our three-step financial aid checklist. The checklist can help simplify the process. Contact your Enrollment Counselor with questions.

Determine Your Eligibility for Federal Funding

Before you begin, review the FAFSA Tip Sheet (PDF) to save time and submit fewer documents. Have your Social Security number and tax information handy.

Go to studentaid.gov and log in using your FSA ID. Galen school code is 015924.

Note: If you are younger than 24, you may be required to provide your parents’ financial information when completing the FAFSA. Find more information about dependency status.

Access your Student Self-Service Portal to complete your financial aid requirements. An email with your login information will be sent to you within 24-48 hours of confirming your program and start term with your Enrollment Counselor.

Next, submit your Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note. Before you begin, compile this information:

FSA ID
Driver’s license number
Social Security number
Two personal references who don’t live together or with you (include their complete addresses and phone numbers)

To submit your loan documents, go to studentaid.gov. Log In and sign in with your FSA ID.

Go to Complete Loan Counseling and follow the instructions. First-time loan borrowers must complete Entrance Counseling. Returning loan borrowers can complete either Financial Awareness Counseling or Entrance Counseling.

Next, go to Complete Loan Agreement (Master Promissory Note). Follow the instructions for Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans.

Check Your Email Often

It is important you complete all three steps for the determination of your eligibility for federal funding. We will email you if you need to provide further information to finalize your financial aid package.

An email will be sent to you when your financial aid award letter is complete and ready to view on the Student Self-Service Portal.
