Invest: Tampa Bay Spotlights Galen Tampa Dean Wessel

Galen College of Nursing is earning national recognition for its commitment to expanding access to nursing education. Recently, Invest: Tampa Bay sat down with our Tampa Bay Dean, Dr. Kristen Wessel, PhD., MSN, RN, to discuss the changing landscape of nursing education and how Galen is investing in students to develop practice-ready graduates.

Wessel discussed with the publication her campus’ strategy to strengthen pathways to Galen for working professionals, while also investing in middle school and high school student pipelines. Additionally, Wessel spoke about the critical role a strong clinical partnership can play in nursing education, praising Galen’s connection with HCA Healthcare as a great example. These partnerships help develop nursing students and prepare them to go straight to the bedside when they pass their NCLEX.

Additionally, Wessel spoke to the ways Galen stands out from other nursing colleges, and how our nursing-focus enables us to leverage key resources to help our students through their academic journey.
