First-Quarter Experience

A Strong Start to Your Nursing Program

Discover the confidence that comes with comprehensive support.

Your first quarter sets the tone for your program. From your first day of class, we support you with resources and help you build skills to promote your success.

Instantly speak with an advisor through our On-Demand Chat, or schedule a meeting with your personal academic advisor. From orientation to graduation, your academic advisor is there to support you through your academic journey with Galen. The advising team is committed to your success.

Galen’s student success course, GPS 1200 helps students in the ADN and BSN programs learn academic skills they will use across the curriculum. Receive what you need from day one, such as on-demand instructional media library with interactive learning content, videos, and supplemental learning material, academic advising and tutoring, chat support, career development personal counseling, and student organizations. And that’s just the start.

I’m Interested in Learning More.
Let’s Get Started.

Stepping Stones to Success

GPS is a course most pre-licensure (new to nursing or pre-RN) students take. Consider GPS your source for all the tools and support you need to start strong during your first two quarters as a new Galen student.

You learn how to use the wide range of resources available in specific ways that work well for you. If you’re curious about the difficulty of nursing school, check out our article on what you can expect from your nursing education.

With any challenge, big or small, turn to the Student Resource Center first. Contacting on-demand advisors, using library and technology resources, Galen All Access—this is your central support hub.

Disability support services: Within the Student Resource Center, students can find information about Disability Services, or access Galen’s licensed counselors to schedule a virtual counseling session at no additional cost.

Tutoring: Work with one of our Content Enrichment Specialists when you want a deeper dive into any topic. They’re more than tutors; they’re nurse educators who can connect the dots between theory and caring for patients.
