  1. During the Capstone Preparation course for BSN graduates and the Practicum preparation course for MSN graduates, you will complete a graduation application, which is essentially a graduation survey. At this time, you will elect to attend or not attend the commencement ceremony.
  2. Academic Advisors will provide you with campus-specific information related to the commencement ceremony, including contact information for the Campus Graduation Coordinators.
  3. You will order invitations, regalia, and other graduation needs with assistance from the Campus Graduation Coordinators.
  4. You will attend the graduation practice and the ceremony.

Graduation Frequently Asked Questions

Our commencement ceremony is a formal event. Faculty, staff, and students should dress suitably for a formal event.

Graduating males should wear dress slacks, dress shirt, shoes and tie. Graduating females should wear dress slacks, dress or skirt, and dress shoes.

Inappropriate dress attire would be identified as flip flops, shorts, jeans, track suit, or sweat pants.

Students participating in the ceremony should wear their graduation attire under their gowns. For your personal safety, please keep shoes to a modest heel (3″).

Diplomas and one copy of your official transcript will be mailed approximately two months after completion of the program.

Diploma covers are distributed at the graduation ceremony. If you do not attend, your diploma cover will be mailed.

The commencement ceremony typically lasts approximately two hours.

If you are an Alumni of Galen’s Associate program and still have your cap and gown, you do not need to purchase a new one. You will need to purchase a new tassel.

If you are an MSN graduate, you must purchase the entire package, including the gown, tassel with school charm, and hood.
