Careers in Nursing Bring Purpose, Stability, and Opportunity
As the U.S. economy evolves post-COVID-19 pandemic and in the age of Artificial Intelligence, one profession remains full of stable, purpose-filled opportunities for employment: Nursing.
A recent Wall Street Journal article named nursing as a “surefire new path to American prosperity,” touting its higher-than-average wages, upward growth potential, and stable jobs. As other industries shed jobs and salaries, the healthcare industry continues to grow year-over-year and has provided millions with stable employment.
Last January, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that the healthcare industry added 82,000 jobs, by far the largest job growth field in the entire economy that month. These jobs gains are coming as the American population continues to grow older.
The nursing field’s stability is occurring alongside a well-documented nursing shortage. Projections from the National Center for Health Workforce Analysis estimate that as soon as 2028, there will be a nursing shortage of more than 267,000 registered nurses across the country.
At Galen, we’re dedicated to fulfilling our mission of expanding access to innovative nursing education that prepares competent, confident, compassionate nurses who advance healthcare and strengthen communities.
