Tuition & Financial Aid

Paying for Your Nursing Education

Cost and value matter when it comes to your education.

First, figure out what your program will cost. Speak with a Galen Enrollment Counselor to walk through the specific costs for your program. They can also help you prepare for tuition deadlines and review transfer credits if applicable (which, if accepted, could bring your costs down).

Transfer credits and other factors may also influence program costs. Speak with a Galen Enrollment Counselor to walk through the specific costs for your program.

Second, explore the available options to help you pay for your education. Tuition is an investment in your goals and your future career. Most people get help funding this investment.

Help paying for college is likely to come in the form of a student loan. Student loans are typically made through the federal government but can also come from private lenders. Remember to be kind to your future self and borrow only what you need and only what makes sense for you.

The good news? All the different shapes of financial aid come through filing a single form, the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

The other good news: An education from a nursing-focused institution with more than 36,000 graduates over 30 years, like Galen, is a great investment in your future working potential.

Workforce Opportunities

In addition, there may be workforce opportunities where a healthcare organization may offer to pay all or part of nursing school tuition expenses in exchange for a work commitment post-graduation. Terms will vary based on the program. Be sure to ask your Galen Enrollment Counselor if there are any workforce opportunities in your area.

Other Help

Financial aid technically means help based on financial need, yet many people also get help paying for college based on their personal qualities (aka, scholarships or tuition reimbursement).

For tuition reimbursement programs, talk to human resources where you work. In addition to the information on our Scholarships page, you might search for “scholarship search engines” for the best places to begin your hunt.

Federal & State Financial Aid Options

You may be eligible for a wide-range of funding to help pay for your education. This includes the Title IV funding programs provided by the U.S. Department of Education:

  • Federal Pell Grants
  • Federal SEOG Grants
  • Federal Direct Subsidized Loans
  • Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans
  • Federal Direct PLUS Loans

In addition, most states offer grants and other financial aid. Search your state’s department of education site to discover programs and ways to apply. (Many states rely on the FAFSA, just as the federal programs do).
